![]() ![]() What game system are you running (D&D, Call of Cthulu, Palladium, GURPS, etc.), and if applicable what edition (Original, Classic, Revised, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 10th, etc.)?Ģ. Now, if you're still reading, I presume you've read everything beforehand, and are ready to get started!ġ. I know that games have a high attrition rate, but it's just common courtesy, folks. ![]() Hurl outlandish abuse at me if you must (within the boundaries of Forum Rules, please), but don't let me abandon this. This works both ways, of course: if I'm suddenly absent without any forewarning, PLEASE pester me until I return to the game. If you're not posting for more than 2-3 days consecutively, please just send me a PM or post OOC beforehand. I will be accepting legitimate reasons for not posting – family, job issues, personal time, etc – but I don't want players to just 'ghost' and stop posting for no reason. I'm guilty of this myself, having lost a few of my own games because I was burnt out or just got busy or lazy. I've seen too many games on this board stumble and fall right out of the gate, and any serious lapses in momentum are usually the death knell for the game. I also want to take the time to say a little bit about online commitment before we get onto the rules. You can find more information at these links, which go into a bit more depth on Ixalan's collected lore. As players, you will be exploring uncharted wilds, fighting off fantastical monsters and engaging in dynamic intrigues against the power groups of the continent. The plane is currently undergoing a radical social, military, and political transformation due to the arrival of vampiric legions and pirate coalitions, movements akin to the real-world Age of Exploration and the Golden Age of Piracy. Basically, Ixalan is a Mesoamerican inspired plane full of uncharted jungles where dangerous beasts, magnificent ruins, and lost treasures lie waiting to be discovered. It will walk you through the basics of the four factions in the game, as well as the races native to the setting. The first thing that I will link you to is the Plane Shift: Ixalan 5E supplement, which is free to download from the Wizards site. If you don't play MtG and don't know anything about Ixalan as a setting, I would recommend that you go do some reading before writing an application. However, having read through the lore a few times, I should let you know that I'm planning on making a few minor modifications to the existing story in order to keep it in-line with a few metaplot ideas that I have further down the line. Since I'm fairly new to DMing in 5th Edition, I think what I'm going to do is have you all play through that module first, and see where we go from there. The adventure starts with all of the PCs imprisoned by the vampires of the Legion of Dusk, before escaping in search of a hidden treasure. I really got excited when I found out that Wizards released an actual setting guide, as well as a published mini-adventure called X Marks the Spot to be used with that supplement. The setting of Ixalan is a wonderful blend of swashbuckling adventure and pulpy exploration with the mystical elements that one might typically find in a Plane Shift game. Since I'm a long time Magic player and a lover of the Ixalan lore, I thought I'd put up recruitment for a game set on that plane. Hello Playgrounders! I'm busy playing a lot of Pathfinder right now, but I think I wouldn't mind trying my hand at a 5E game. No matter your allegiance, one thing is certain: the stakes are no less than life and death. These four factions have spread across the breadth and width of Ixalan's vast wilderness, to either fill their coffers with the plunder of the ruins within or to stop those who would pillage the land. The dinosaur riding warriors of the Sun Empire and the merfolk shamans of the rival River Heralds have been met by the vampire conquistadores of the Legion of Dusk and the pirates of the Brazen Coalition in open battle. But no secret can remain undiscovered, and no treasure can be taken uncontested. For centuries, its untamed jungles and surging rivers have hidden a coveted secret: Orazca, the city of gold, which houses a mysterious artifact, the Immortal Sun. The island continent of Ixalan is at war. ![]()
